Accessing your health records

Accessing your health records

Under the Data Protection Act (DPA), individuals can request information held by the Trust about themselves including their medical records. This process is known as a Subject Access Request.

The Access to Health Records Act (AHRA) provides certain individuals with a right of access to the health records of deceased individual. These individuals are defined as, 'the patients personal representative and any person who may have a claim arising out of the patients death.' A personal representative is the executor or administrator of the deceased person's estate.
