Making a Freedom of Information Request
What is the Freedom of Information Act?
The Freedom of Information Act was passed in November 2000 and gives you the right to access recorded information held by public sector organisations.
Recorded information includes printed documents, computer files, letters, emails, photographs, and sound or video recordings.
Anyone can request information – there are no restrictions on your age, nationality or where you live.
Freedom of Information Requests must be made in writing however this can be undertaken by email or post.

The Act does not give people access to their own personal data (information about themselves) such as their health records. If you would like to request information that a public authority holds about you (such as your ambulance records), you should make a data protection subject access request, the details of how to do this are below.
