Ambulance Radio Programme

Welcome to the Ambulance Radio Programme!

The Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) Team has been tasked by the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to replace the existing mobile communication systems with new digital services for all of the Ambulance Trusts in England.

ARP is delivering two Programmes “Control Room Solution” (CRS) and “Mobile Data Vehicle Solution” (MDVS)

Control Room Solution - The CRS Programme will provide a replacement to the end of life control room services known as the Integrated Communication and Control System (ICCS) to all 11 English Ambulance Trusts plus the Scottish and Welsh Ambulance Service (funded by their respective devolved governments). The new system is being provided as a national solution leading to enhanced interworking and resilience.

Mobile Data and Vehicle Solution - The MDVS Programme will provide a replacement of the communications equipment within all English Ambulances. This includes a mobilisation application which will be used to dispatch ambulance resources and replacement vehicle and handheld communication equipment.

Emergency Services Network (ESN) - is the Government's selected option to replace the Airwave Network, which The Emergency Service in England, Scotland and Wales use for communications between Control Rooms and the ‘Field’.

ARP are hosted by South Western Ambulance Service Trust (SWAST), meaning ARP Employees have full use of SWAST HR & Payroll Services, Policies and Health & Wellbeing Support, the same as all SWAST Employees.

ARP’s Vision – ARP are a trusted provider of robust, reliable communications and other centralised technology solutions, primarily to the ambulance service, that support and enhance the delivery of patient care.

ARP is close to becoming a Team of 100 employees, with colleagues based at home, or at 1 of 3 Office Locations – London Victoria, Bristol (SWAST St James’) or Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

If you are interested in joining the ARP Team, keep an eye out on NHS Jobs for all our live vacancies, or contact hrservices@swast.nhs.uk for more details.
