South Western Ambulance service is committed to providing a clean, safe environment for our patients. All our vehicles are deep cleaned every six weeks, and whenever there has been a contamination risk. We have ‘Make Ready’ teams that manage the vehicles which are taken off the road which ensures our crews always have a replacement vehicle available, so that they can continue to be operational.

The Trust works hard to reduce the spread of infectious diseases such as Norovirus and Clostridium Difficile by promoting effective hand hygiene and IPC measures across the Trust. This is to break the chain of infection pictured below:

The South Western Ambulance Charity, founded in 1995, uses gifted monies to benefit those in our communities who use our service and to improve the welfare of the staff and volunteers of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. 

Our charitable support covers Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire including Bristol and Swindon.
